January 2017 Workshop - Card 1

At our January workshop, we had a couple of visitors join us. I wanted a card using all stamping. I really like to use my Big Shot. And so do my friends that join me in these workshops. But I was wanting our visitors to experience the joys of stamping and eliminate the frustrations that come from being a beginner trying to learn about what pads to use with folders, framelits, etc.

I think this was a great beginner card.

I did CASE this from a card I found on Pinterest. I changed the colors and used a different stamp for the greeting.

Happy 22nd Birthday

How many times have you said "I can't believe how time flies by"?

In the blink of an eye, your baby goes from this . . .

(Taken June 11, 1994. She was a whole 5 days old here)

To this . . .

(Taken December 25, 2016. A little over half way to 22.)

My beautiful baby is now a beautiful young lady.

About to tell on myself here:
This is the 22nd time I have wished My Girl a Happy Birthday
and the first time I have made her a card!
How does that happen? LOL

I love you to the moon and back, Junebug.

Pinterest Inspiration - part 2

I blogged a little about being inspired from cards I find on Pinterest.

I showed the card I was trying to CASE (copy and share everything).

This is from Scrappin and Stampin in GJ and here is a link to the card

I think I have said this before but Gorgeous Grunge is my favorite stamp set!

 And here is my version:

(The background for this picture is black.)

I stamped the different colors onto white cardstock. Starting with Melon Mambo, then Peach Parfait and Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist and finally Concord Crush. Cut it to the size I wanted. And glued it to black cardstock, with just a little bit of the edge showing to frame it. And then glued that to a white cardstock base. Then added a few small bling elements.

I didn't have any small ribbon, so I left that element off.

Makes me want to shout "WOOHOO".

How about you?

p.s. Don't forget! When you are inspired or CASE someone else's work,
please give them credit if you can. It's the right thing to do. ;-)

Pinterest Inspiration

I found this card on Pinterest. The link takes you to Scrappin' and Stampin' in GJ blog.

The first picture is what I am trying to accomplish. But I want to change up the colors.

The last picture is what's happening. :)

I am not real good at designing my own cards. So I take inspiration from others on the web. And when I can, I give credit. I hope you do to.

Real Quick Masculine Card

Whipped this up real quick for a friend.

And I mean reeeeal quick *snap* LOL

You can tell can't you?

The birthday sentiment is crooked. *sigh*

I still like it though.

Black, gray and white

And a hint of color by using a little green.

Clean and simple.

Just the way I like 'em.

Happy 5th Birthday

Turning 5 is a big deal. Especially, if you are the one turning 5.

This was made for a sweet little girl who turned The Big 5 in March of this year.

I wanted bright and colorful, just like she is.

I used my favorite stamp set from Stampin UP, Gorgeous Grunge. And I am just loving the color combo here: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Concord Crush.

Yes, I know Blogger colors don't exactly match SU colors, but hey, it pretties up the blog post.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the number 5. Embossed white cardstock with the Chevron folder using my Big Shot, then punched a 2 inch circle. Not entirely happy with that element, but it works.

And a little bling. Pink bling. So bright and colorful.

Inspired and CASEd

I follow Elizabeth Volker @willowtreepapercrafting on Instagram. She posted a card earlier this year that I just knew I had to CASE. (Copy And Share Everything)

She told me the supplies she used, and so I went about using what I had to try and CASE it.

I dabbed a wad of bath tissue on the silver ink pad and swiped it over the black cardstock.
Then used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp and silver ink on the red cardstock.
I sponged black ink around the edge of the hearts. Just the edge of the cardstock, not on the surface.
I just wanted an outline so they would stand out a little against the shiny silver cardstock.

I get so many wonderful ideas from surfing blogs, Instagram and Pinterest.
If I know where the idea/inspiration came from I share a link to the blog or Instagram.

You can find Elizabeth and her wonderful creations here

What has inspired you lately??

Numbers, numbers, and more numbers!

Here I am showcasing 3 cards I have made recently at the request of my friends. Using the awesome Gorgeous Grunge stamp set from SU and a little bling, I think these turned out GREAT!

The first card is for a Sweet Sixteen. I asked for a favorite color and was told Lime Green. So I found the closest cardstock I had to Lime Green, used my Cricut for the numbers, some Stickles for the sparkle, a few blings from my stash and came up with this - - -

I chose Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie to accent the Lime Green.
I think that color combo turned out quite well. I used a mask to create some space for the numbers.

Soon after that card, it was time for my husband's nieces birthday. She turned the Big 8! I thought this layout would work well for her too.

(bad edit, sorry)

Her favorite color is Purple. I had run out of Concord Crush (which I think is a great dark purple!!) so I had to go begging borrowing from my friend down the street.
**I am so disappointed that Concord Crush is discontinued.

I shared the Purple 8 card with my Facebook friends and family and had a friend request a card with 24 and use bright colors. So, I basically copied the Sweet Sixteen card and used 24.

I had my friends tell me I did a nice job. And I inspired one of them to create her own!  I don't think I have ever been the inspiration for a card before, LOL. Here is the link for that -  http://3monkeysthrowingaroundsomepaper.blogspot.com/2013/11/stampin-up-tag-bag-flower-shop-stamp.html
