Inspired and CASEd

I follow Elizabeth Volker @willowtreepapercrafting on Instagram. She posted a card earlier this year that I just knew I had to CASE. (Copy And Share Everything)

She told me the supplies she used, and so I went about using what I had to try and CASE it.

I dabbed a wad of bath tissue on the silver ink pad and swiped it over the black cardstock.
Then used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp and silver ink on the red cardstock.
I sponged black ink around the edge of the hearts. Just the edge of the cardstock, not on the surface.
I just wanted an outline so they would stand out a little against the shiny silver cardstock.

I get so many wonderful ideas from surfing blogs, Instagram and Pinterest.
If I know where the idea/inspiration came from I share a link to the blog or Instagram.

You can find Elizabeth and her wonderful creations here

What has inspired you lately??

I did not know you could do that!!

This will make blogging sooooo much easier that's for sure!

And if it's easy, that means I will do more of it.

Which is what I promised last week. :)

Yes. Still here.

I know, I know, I don't come around much.
I am one of those people who have a blog but ignore it.
I admit it.

I get busy doing other things, like watching TV. That is a bad habit I need to break.
We don't even have cable anymore, and I still can't tear myself out of that recliner.
Shame on me!!
Shame on Netflix! Yeah, that's it!! Netflix is to blame.

LOL just kidding

It's me. All me

And Sheldon.

Thursday night is where it's at people!!

TBBT, can't live without it.

Just can't.

I do get crafty still. Sometimes. I am really going to try harder.
Hey, if The Hubby can build a portable golf course surely I can make a few cards. Right?

So, here it goes...

Going to try and do more crafty stuff.
And blog more.
But not just about crafts.
But not sure abput what cause I really don't have an exciting life.

Case in point:

The kids are out of the house.
So no pics or funny stories about them.
Just drama it seems like from My Girl.
Just keeping it real folks.

I go to church on most Sunday mornings.
Well, I go to class, don't stay for church.
I take my sister.
And that's a good thing.
(admit it, you heard that in Martha Stewart's voice)

I work Mon-Fri.
My job is in agriculture.
So if the farmers are busy, I am too.
That's when I add Saturdays to my work week.

* I go to church on Wednesday nights.
Mr. D and I are the teachers for First and Second Grade.
Our program, Discovery Club, is for Pre-K - 6 grade.
And then there is a youth program.
Good times people. Good times.

* Besides our M-F jobs, The Hubby and I own business together.
He built a portable golf course.
Yes, portable. Yes, 9 holes of mini golf that's portable.
Meaning put it together, take it apart, shove it stack it in the trailer.
*Rinse. Repeat.*
We are taking it to area festivals.
We are going to work ourselves to death going to have fun!!

See? Not much to this life of mine. Work, church, golf.

Kind of not exciting.

But it's mine.

Numbers, numbers, and more numbers!

Here I am showcasing 3 cards I have made recently at the request of my friends. Using the awesome Gorgeous Grunge stamp set from SU and a little bling, I think these turned out GREAT!

The first card is for a Sweet Sixteen. I asked for a favorite color and was told Lime Green. So I found the closest cardstock I had to Lime Green, used my Cricut for the numbers, some Stickles for the sparkle, a few blings from my stash and came up with this - - -

I chose Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie to accent the Lime Green.
I think that color combo turned out quite well. I used a mask to create some space for the numbers.

Soon after that card, it was time for my husband's nieces birthday. She turned the Big 8! I thought this layout would work well for her too.

(bad edit, sorry)

Her favorite color is Purple. I had run out of Concord Crush (which I think is a great dark purple!!) so I had to go begging borrowing from my friend down the street.
**I am so disappointed that Concord Crush is discontinued.

I shared the Purple 8 card with my Facebook friends and family and had a friend request a card with 24 and use bright colors. So, I basically copied the Sweet Sixteen card and used 24.

I had my friends tell me I did a nice job. And I inspired one of them to create her own!  I don't think I have ever been the inspiration for a card before, LOL. Here is the link for that -  http://3monkeysthrowingaroundsomepaper.blogspot.com/2013/11/stampin-up-tag-bag-flower-shop-stamp.html

Patriotic Pocket Calendar

I have used one of these for as long as I have been an adult. I use this to keep track of bills that are due and which paycheck to pay it with. Earlier in my adulthood, I kept track of important dates. I still have the one I wrote in when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter in 1993!!

Now, I know there are apps for my smartphone but I keep coming back to this for the bills.

Real simple project to do. And it can be personalized!! You can make several and switch them out with the seasons or whatever bag/purse you are carrying.

On this patriotic one, I used a square punch and large heart punch. Figured out a pattern for my squares then started gluing them to a piece of white cardstock. Staple your creation to the calendar. Bend and insert into the plastic cover.

Note: score down the center, where the staple will go. Then about an 1\8 on an inch each side of that scoreline, score it again. Those scorelines help the cardstock accommodate the thickness of the calendar when stapled.
