Monday Musings for October 27, 2014

Here I sit, at work, with work stuff to do.
Yes, I will do it. Just putting it off until after lunch.

It won't take an hour. Then I will sit here some more. Until time to go home.

That's the way it is this time of year when you work in agriculture.

Well, in an office anyway.

The farmers are still in the field reaping what they sowed. :)
Corn is done. Beans are being harvested now. And cotton.

I miss my days at the cotton gin.

And our portable mini golfing days are over. Until next year.

Portable mini golf? Not heard of around here.
Not sure about other parts of the country.

The Hubby built it last winter. And we used it this summer.
At every small town festival we could.

Here it is stacked in the trailer. The Hubby unloading while I take a picture.

(I quickly took this picture and got to work helping him.)

These are made out of treated plywood and decking boards.

They have to be shimmed and leveled as best as he can get them.

I

Ready for some putt putt??

This little venture sure has kept us busy this summer.
So busy that I have not been able to play with my Silhouette Cameo.
*insert pouty face*

I am hoping to change that this Winter!! Along with The Hubby's help.
Hey, I helped him, now he has to help me. Right?
At least, mine won't be soooo physically involved! LOL

Well, that's a wrap for this episode of Monday Musings.
Will there be one next week?

:)

Cute Cards for Cat Owners

Well, I didn't make a post on Wednesday as I said I would on Tuesday. Sorry about that. :)

I was in meetings for work on Wednesday and Thursday. Meetings that were 4 1/2 hours away from home. I fully intended on blogging from my phone, that is why I posted that I would post again on Wednesday. Cause I knew I would have some downtime in my hotel room. Well, it didn't work out that way. (does it ever?) Along with internet issues, meeting up with friends and making new ones, time got away from me....

So here is my post that I planned on posting, along with some changes.
*Although you wouldn't have known that if I hadn't admitted to it, LOL.*

Here are a couple of more cards that I made for the fundraiser for the local humane society.

This one has just a small piece of patterned paper on the left side of the card. I really just "eyeballed" the size of the white card stock with the stamped image.

Don't you just love that cat??!! So cute!

This little cutie is just as easy. (see a theme here)
Simple. Quick. Easy. No fuss.

I added a little extra to this card stock with the stamped image. I added 3 score lines to the sides.
I wanted this one to show more of the patterned paper. So I cut it into a square versus a rectangle like the stamped/scored image.

* I really like that paper *

I got my inspiration from Get Inspired Crafting with Joanne

Hopefully on Sunday I can get back here and show off a few more cute cards.

And eventually a bird.

And a frog.

Have a blessed and crafty day!!

Cute Cards for Dog Owners

Our local humane society invited everyone to set up a table or two at their place so they could have one big yard sale. Monies collected from table rentals went to the humane society.

I couldn't participate because of a previous commitment, so I asked a friend if she would set some of these cards out and try to sell them. She could keep whatever money she collected from sales to help with the heart worm treatment for dog she is fostering.

Here are a couple of the cards that I made.

I got my inspiration from Get Inspired Crafting with Joanne .

These are so simple to make. Layer a piece of pattern paper that has been cut to fit your card. I like to offset the patterned paper to show some of the white card stock. The patterned paper acts as a border of sorts and helps your stamped image stand out.

Then stamp your image onto white card stock. Cut the card stock in a square or rectangle. What ever shape looks best for your image. Then layer that on top of the card.

There are countless number of ways to layer your papers and card stock. I will have a couple of more examples to show you tomorrow.

Have a blessed and crafty day!

Real Quick Masculine Card

Whipped this up real quick for a friend.

And I mean reeeeal quick *snap* LOL

You can tell can't you?

The birthday sentiment is crooked. *sigh*

I still like it though.

Black, gray and white

And a hint of color by using a little green.

Clean and simple.

Just the way I like 'em.

Blogmopolitan Quiz

I don't normally do these questionnaire thingys, but this one caught my eye. I found it over at Lori's Blog and she says it originated from Two Thirds Hazel, who is having a linky party with it.

I said I would blog more about non-crafty stuff so here we go...

I should have put that one of my Favorite Things
to be Called would be TammaLee.
My mom would call me TammaLee. I miss hearing her voice. :(

Head over to Two Thirds Hazel and link up your Blogmopolitan Quiz!

My First Challenge

.....that I initiated! Yep, My First Vinyl project has blossomed into
My First Challenge.

How you ask?

Well, Over on Instagram I had posted about decorating my Silhouette Cameo with vinyl. My friend Tammy Malone, from over at Not Just Paper and Glue, commented on my post and mentioned that there was a cutting file for the control panel in the Silhouette Store. I knew about it, and also had the free one that came with the free downloads when I bought my Cameo. I have just vinyled (is that a word?) my Cameo and couldn't decide what paper to use for the control panel. And she hadn't done hers either. So I said "you do yours and I'll do mine".

So, there you have it....my first challenge....

Control Panel Challenge
#controlpanelchallenge

Pretty up your Cameo people!!

It's easy to get started! Just find the cutting file (#42907) in the Silhouette Store, or use the free download. The difference is that #42907, from Samantha Walker,
is scalloped around the edges. The free one is not.

Before.......

Find the little notch in the plastic cover and take it off. Insert your paper or whatever material you used, and replace cover. There are notches on the the top and bottom of plastic cover.

After......

So easy! No welding, no ungrouping, nothing. Just choose the file, put paper on the mat, load mat, CUT!

Viola!! A prettied up Control Panel!

Hope to see you and your control panels over on Instagram!

My First Vinyl

Look!!

I did it!

I attempted vinyl!!!

Woohoo!! So proud of myself for finally taking the plunge! LOL

The cactus, roadrunner and the sun are all found in the Silhouette Store.
I found the font online.
I also found a little dust cloud in the Silhouette Store to go
behind the roadrunner but I do not have the color needed for it.
So that will come later.

Also later, I am planning on layering the words
to make them stand out more.

For now, I just want to look at it and say to myself "I did it!".

I freely admit, this is not the best vinyl transfer job.
But as I found out last night, as with anything of course,
this is going to take some practice. And patience.

Patience??

Oy!

I have no patience. I just want projects to hurry up and be done! LOL
I know you are with me on this, right? Hurry up already! :-)

*   *   *   *   *

I live in Southeast Missouri so you may be wondering why I chose to use a desert theme. I had thought about decorating my Cameo with swirls, or an owl on a branch, or something but I just didn't know what.

Nothing jumped out at me. Until I saw the Road Runner.

*now I need Wile E. Coyote, huh?*

I used to live in Tucson. And I would love to go back there.

To visit.

To live.

Doesn't matter. Just take me there!

Pronto!

*see? no patience*

Happy 5th Birthday

Turning 5 is a big deal. Especially, if you are the one turning 5.

This was made for a sweet little girl who turned The Big 5 in March of this year.

I wanted bright and colorful, just like she is.

I used my favorite stamp set from Stampin UP, Gorgeous Grunge. And I am just loving the color combo here: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie and Concord Crush.

Yes, I know Blogger colors don't exactly match SU colors, but hey, it pretties up the blog post.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the number 5. Embossed white cardstock with the Chevron folder using my Big Shot, then punched a 2 inch circle. Not entirely happy with that element, but it works.

And a little bling. Pink bling. So bright and colorful.

Inspired and CASEd

I follow Elizabeth Volker @willowtreepapercrafting on Instagram. She posted a card earlier this year that I just knew I had to CASE. (Copy And Share Everything)

She told me the supplies she used, and so I went about using what I had to try and CASE it.

I dabbed a wad of bath tissue on the silver ink pad and swiped it over the black cardstock.
Then used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp and silver ink on the red cardstock.
I sponged black ink around the edge of the hearts. Just the edge of the cardstock, not on the surface.
I just wanted an outline so they would stand out a little against the shiny silver cardstock.

I get so many wonderful ideas from surfing blogs, Instagram and Pinterest.
If I know where the idea/inspiration came from I share a link to the blog or Instagram.

You can find Elizabeth and her wonderful creations here
and here

What has inspired you lately??

How cool is that??
I inserted that picture here, on my blog, from my phone.

But I'm not blogging on my phone.

There is an album here that has pics that are on my phone.

I did not know you could do that!!

This will make blogging sooooo much easier that's for sure!

And if it's easy, that means I will do more of it.

Which is what I promised last week. :)

Yes. Still here.

I know, I know, I don't come around much.
I am one of those people who have a blog but ignore it.
I admit it.

I get busy doing other things, like watching TV. That is a bad habit I need to break.
We don't even have cable anymore, and I still can't tear myself out of that recliner.
Shame on me!!
Shame on Netflix! Yeah, that's it!! Netflix is to blame.

LOL just kidding

It's me. All me

And Sheldon.

Thursday night is where it's at people!!

TBBT, can't live without it.

Just can't.

* * * * *

I do get crafty still. Sometimes. I am really going to try harder.
Hey, if The Hubby can build a portable golf course surely I can make a few cards. Right?

So, here it goes...

Going to try and do more crafty stuff.
And blog more.
But not just about crafts.
But not sure abput what cause I really don't have an exciting life.

Case in point:

The kids are out of the house.
So no pics or funny stories about them.
Just drama it seems like from My Girl.
Just keeping it real folks.

I go to church on most Sunday mornings.
Well, I go to class, don't stay for church.
I take my sister.
And that's a good thing.
(admit it, you heard that in Martha Stewart's voice)

I work Mon-Fri.
My job is in agriculture.
So if the farmers are busy, I am too.
That's when I add Saturdays to my work week.

* I go to church on Wednesday nights.
Mr. D and I are the teachers for First and Second Grade.
Our program, Discovery Club, is for Pre-K - 6 grade.
And then there is a youth program.
Good times people. Good times.

* Besides our M-F jobs, The Hubby and I own business together.
He built a portable golf course.
Yes, portable. Yes, 9 holes of mini golf that's portable.
Meaning put it together, take it apart, shove it stack it in the trailer.
*Rinse. Repeat.*
We are taking it to area festivals.
We are going to work ourselves to death going to have fun!!

* * * * *

See? Not much to this life of mine. Work, church, golf.

Kind of not exciting.

But it's mine.
